Why do I need a will?
Death is usually very unpleasant to think about. Nevertheless, there are good reasons to deal with the consequences of one’s own death. Those who manage their property affairs during their lifetime can often avoid disputes and misunderstandings among their survivors.
The notary helps with the correct formulation of the will and ensures that your wishes are recorded in a legally sound manner. Due to the specialist knowledge and experience of the notary in the making of wills, the right solution for you can be found in a consultation.
Will the will be found in the event of death?
The will drawn up by the notary is registered in the electronically maintained Austrian Central Register of Wills, so that in the event of death the will can be found quickly and safely. The competent court commissioner is obliged to query wills in the Austrian Central Register of Wills.
Who will inherit if I don’t leave a will?
If a person dies without leaving a will or other final disposition with inheritance, the legal succession takes place. In this case, the next of kin and the spouse inherit, with the closest of kin excluding the more distant relatives from the right of inheritance. If there are no relatives and no spouse, the assets ultimately go to the Republic of Austria.
