The estate procedure is handled by the notary as the judicial commissioner of the competent district court. At the beginning of each procedure there is a death assessment, in which the notary clarifies the family and financial circumstances and discusses the next course of action with the parties involved. Depending on the financial situation of the deceased, it is determined whether a declaration of succession is made or whether the procedure is carried out in another way (e. g. transfer of the assets to the estate creditors/funeral payers).
